What if learning could be as exciting as an adventure in a storybook? Meet Vidya – the kids’ newest learning buddy, designed to spark curiosity and creativity among young learners. A collaborative initiative by National Book Trust India (NBT) and Warner Bros. Discovery, Vidya made her grand debut at the New Delhi World Book Fair 2025, captivating children with the magic of books and digital learning.

From television screens to mobile apps, this initiative converted screen time into smart time with education, making learning more accessible, engaging and interactive for kids across India.

Redefining Education with Vidya:
Vidya, by National Book Trust India (NBT) and Warner Bros. Discovery, marks a significant step towards revolutionising education for young learners nationwide. The initiative is aimed at:

  • Encouraging curiosity, creativity and critical thinking among kids.
  • Promoting digital accessibility through the Rashtriya e-Pustakalaya app, enabling anytime, anywhere learning.
  • Engaging kids through interactive content on television across Pogo, Cartoon Network and Discovery Kids.
  • Making learning inclusive and accessible for kids everywhere, aligning with India’s National Education Policy.

The Mission: Making Learning Fun and Accessible:
The goal behind Vidya was simple – turn learning into a fun and interactive experience. The initiative was launched keeping in mind India’s National Education Policy, which encourages creativity, thinking outside the box and accessibility.

Vidya was introduced not just as a mascot but also as a learning buddy, inspiring children to explore the world of books with enthusiasm. By leveraging different digital touchpoints and interactive experiences, the initiative sought to make gaining knowledge more inclusive and enjoyable.

Digital Learning At Your Fingertips:
In today’s digital-first world, accessibility is key. Vidya played an important role in promoting the Rashtriya e-Pustakalaya app, a digital library that opened doors to thousands of books for children nationwide. Whether at home or in school, young readers can now explore an extensive collection of educational material anytime, anywhere, bridging the gap between digital accessibility and the love for reading.

Turning Screen Time into Smart Time:
Vidya didn’t just stop at books! She made learning an interactive experience by entering the world where kids are most occupied – the world of screens. From Pogo, Cartoon Network and Discovery Kids, children were engaged with helpful exam tips and word challenges that made studying feel less like a chore and more like an adventure.

By integrating educational content into screen time through popular kid’s entertainment channels, the initiative successfully turned screen time into smart time. This creative approach helped reinforce learning through a medium that kids already loved, making education both fun and effective.

A Bold Step Towards The Future of Learning:
With Vidya, National Book Trust India (NBT) and Warner Bros. Discovery took an important step towards redefining how children perceive education. By combining traditional reading habits with modern digital tools, they bridged the gap between digital accessibility and learning. It was a well-rounded, interactive learning experience for young minds.

Education isn’t just about textbooks – it’s also about curiosity, encouraging creativity, building lifelong habits and making knowledge accessible to all. Through Vidya, a new chapter in learning has begun, one that empowers the next generation with the tools they need to explore, discover and grow.
